Nyathi Rest Camp in Addo Elephant National Park nestles at the foot of the Zuurberg Mountain range and is surrounded by hills. Meaning “buffalo” in the local isiXhosa language, the camp is located only 12 km from the Addo Main Rest Camp and offers secluded and exclusive accommodation in the natural bush. As the newest addition to SANParks camps, Nyathi provides views on the seasonal river flowing past and the waterhole where, amongst other animals, buffalo often stop for a drink of fresh water.
Rates are per night and exclude 1% community fund which will be added when booking.

Offering exclusive accommodation, only eleven self-catering cottages make up the Nyati Rest Camp. Inspired by African culture and architecture, the domed and thatched cottages are built on stilts, providing spectacular views from the bedrooms, lounges and even from some of the bathrooms. Wooden pathways connect the cottages, making it accessible for those with limited mobility.
Accommodating two persons, eight of the cottages are furnished with 2 single beds. The en-suite bathrooms have a hot water shower and toilet each. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a fridge, microwave and cooking utensils. DSTV with limited channels is provided. Two of these cottages at Nyathi are accessible to the mobility challenged.
Both rooms have en-suite bathrooms with a shower, bath and toilet. The open plan kitchen is equipped with a 2-plate stove, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. Basic cooking utensils and cutlery is provided. A TV with selected DSTV channels is available. The wooden deck has outdoor furniture and barbecue facilities. A private plunge pool is available at the cottage.
Accommodating up to six persons, the two Family Cottages have 3 bedrooms each. The open plan kitchen is equipped for self-catering with a 2-plate stove, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and cooking utensils. DSTV with limited channels is provided. A wooden deck with outdoor furniture, a private swimming pool and barbecue facilities is available.
Nyathi is a secluded camp, offering self-catering cottages and no other facilities or amenities. Guests are welcome to use the facilities at the Addo Main Rest Camp, which is 12km away from Nyathi and open during the gate’s open times.
Even though the facilities and activities at the Addo Main Camp is available for use by guests staying in the Nyathi Rest Camp, guests will not be able to participate in any after hour game drives or dinners. The gates to the camps close late in the afternoon and only open again early in the morning. Guests at Nyathi are not allowed to exit or enter the camp during the night time and therefore cannot join any nightly activities.
