Ai Ais Richtersveld National Park

De Hoop is one of the most popular camping sites in the Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park, because it is centrally located and right next to the Gariep River on the South African side. The camp can only be reached with a 4x4-vehicle with a high ground clearance and is accessible from Sendelingsdrift. The route will take one over the Halfmens Pass and the Akkedis Pass. The Hand of God can be viewed along the way.

Accommodation Options

Popular amongst fishermen, bird lovers and families, the De Hoop Camp offers basic and rustic facilities within the breathtaking landscape of rugged volcanic mountains and sandy beaches under the harsh sun. Visitors can swim in the river or float on their own floating devices.

Camping

Twelve rustic campsites are available and shared ablution facilities with cold showers are offered. A maximum of 6 persons and 2 vehicles are accommodated per campsite and an additional fee will be charged for more vehicles. There are no electricity or power points at De Hoop.
