The Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park stretches from west of Nature’s Valley to the east of Storms River Mouth, including 5 km of the sea, protecting a wonderland of inter-tidal, reef and deep sea life. Tsitsikamma is a Khoi-Khoi word meaning “the place of much water” and refers to the numerous estuaries and ancient rivers which carved their paths to the ocean down steep and rocky ravines.

Accommodation is offered in two rest camps in the Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park, namely the De Vasselot Rest Camp at Nature’s Valley and Storms River Mouth Rest Camp.
The De Vasselot Rest Camp is located on the banks of the Groot River, just outside the beautiful village of Nature’s Valley, which is about 40 km from Plettenberg Bay and 40 km from the Storms River Rest Camp.
The 44 campsites are laid out in the shade of the massive trees of the indigenous forest. The communal ablution facilities have hot water showers. Two coin-operated washing machines and tumble dryers are available at the main ablution block.
The basic facilities and limited development of the camping grounds give guests the opportunity to connect with nature and the indigenous surroundings.
Two persons are accommodated in each of the ten Forest Huts. These rustic huts are furnished with 2 single beds and guests make use of the communal ablution and kitchen facilities. Electricity is available in the huts, as well as utensils.
Two chalets in De Vasselot Rest Camp provide accommodation for up to 3 persons. The chalets are furnished with 1 double bed in the bedroom and a sleeper couch in the living room, which is suitable for one adult or 2 small children. These self-catering units have a view on the lagoon.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, stove, microwave and cookware, utensils and crockery. Barbecue facilities are provided on the deck and the private bathroom has a shower and toilet. Parking is available next to the chalets.
The beautiful village of Nature’s Valley is situated right next to the De Vasselot Camp and the beach is closeby. A small shop with basic amenities and a restaurant is available.
Attracting adventurers and families, a wide variety of exciting activities are offered in and around the Garden Route National Park. Walks, hiking trails as well as mountain bike trails and 4x4-trails take one deep into the forest where the exceptional magic of the Tsitsikamma Forest can be experienced.
