Glen Reened rest Camp

Located close to the Golden Gate Hotel & Chalets, the Glen Reenen Rest Camp offers accommodation in rondavels, longdavels and family cottages. Campsites for tents and caravans are also available. A natural rock pool offers an exciting opportunity for cooling off in the summer heat.

As the Main Rest Camp at Golden Gate, there is a shop, filling station and other facilities available, including a bar, ladies’ bar and restaurant.

Accommodation Options

For guests enjoying their stay close to nature, Glen Reenen offers self-catering accommodation in rondavels, longdavels and guest cottages. Campsites are also available for those who enjoy setting up their own camp.

Camp Site Rondavels Longdavels Family Cottages

Camp Site

The Campsites at Glen Reenen Camp are located along the river. Barbecue facilities are available. A maximum of 6 persons are allowed at each campsite and there are no electricity connection points available.

Rondavels

Built according to the traditional African style, a Rondavel is a round building with a thatched roof. The Rondavels have one bedroom each, accommodating 2 persons on a double bed. Some of the Rondavels also have a loft area, furnished with 2 single beds, accommodating an additional 2 persons.

The private bathroom has a shower and toilet and the kitchen is equipped for basic food preparation. One of the 4-sleeper Rondavels has been adapted to accommodate those with mobility challenges.

Longdavels

The Longdavels are an adaptation of the traditional Rondavel, but are slightly more elongated to offer more space. Furnished with a double bed, these units accommodate up to 2 persons. It has a private bathroom, equipped kitchen and barbecue facilities. DSTV is available. One of the Longdavels has been adapted to accommodate those with limited mobility.

Family Cottages

The Family Cottages at Glen Reenen Camp differ in size, accommodating between 2 and 6 persons per cottage. Some have 2 bedrooms each, with a private bathroom. Some have 1 bedroom with a double bed as well as a bunk bed to accommodate children.

Some of the cottages have a main bedroom furnished with a double bed and 2 more bedrooms, furnished with 2 single beds each. There are 2 bathrooms, one being en-suite, with a shower and toilet in each.

The Glen Reenen Camp has several facilities available, including a shop, restaurant, bar and filling station. Conference facilities for up to 250 delegates and a wedding venue is on site and optional catering services are provided.

The Wilgenhof Environmental Education Centre has facilities to accommodate 80 children in dormitory-style rooms. Optional catering services are available, and the facilities include sports fields and adventurous activities.
