The Karoo Rest Camp is the main camp in the Karoo National Park and the reception of the park is located here. The campsites in the rugged Karoo environment.
Rates are per night and exclude 1% community fund which will be added when booking.

Typical Karoo architecture is displayed in the Cape Dutch style cottages, offering panoramic views of the landscape. All the accommodation has self-catering facilities, but meals can be enjoyed at the restaurant. Units in the main camp are serviced daily and bedding and towels are supplied.
Campsites are offered for those wanting to be closer to the rugged Karoo environment. Except for the accommodation and campsites located in the Karoo Rest Camp, there are two more cottages away from the main camp in a private and secluded setting.
Between 2 and 6 persons are accommodated at each of the 24 award-winning campsites and extra vehicles are charged a fee per night. Electrical connection points are available at the campsites. The shared ablution facilities have showers and baths and shared kitchen facilities with hotplates and washing-up facilities are offered.
Furnished with 2 single beds in the bedroom and a double sleeper couch in the living room area, these units have private bathrooms with a toilet and shower or a bath. The Chalets are air-conditioned, and the kitchen is equipped with a microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle and other amenities for self-catering purposes.
The Cottages are 1-bedroom units, furnished with a double bed. A double sleeper couch is available in the living room, accommodating a third person. The kitchen is equipped with a hotplate, microwave, fridge and utensils and barbecue facilities are available on the covered veranda.
There are 2 bedrooms, one furnished with a queen-size bed and the other with single beds. The Cottages are air-conditioned and there are 2 en-suite bathrooms with a toilet, bath and shower. DSTV with limited channels are available.
An old shepherd’s hut had been upgraded to offer rustic accommodation in the park’s game viewing area and a night-lit waterhole in front of the cottage offers game viewing all through the night and day. Only 4x4 and high-clearance vehicles can access this facility and there is no cell phone reception.
Accommodating up to 7 persons, the Embizweni Cottage is also located along the Nuweveld 4x4 trail and about 45 km from the main camp. The self-catering unit is equipped with a fridge and a gas stove and hot water is supplied from the gas geyser. The unit will be serviced before and after, but not during your stay.
A variety of facilities are available at the Karoo Rest Camp, including a restaurant, shop and swimming pool. The park is located 12km from the town of Beaufort West where medical services, vehicle and tyre repair services and banks are available.
Attracting guests from all over the world who are interested in the geology, vegetation and wildlife, there is a lot to see and do while staying at the Karoo National Park. A variety of 4x4-trails is available while birdwatching can be enjoyed from the hide in the camp or while doing self-drive excursions or hikes. Day visitors are welcome, and picnic sites are available.
