Eight spacious safari tents offer self-catering accommodation to a small number of guests, making this a sought-after and exclusive camp. Each tent has a bedroom, en-suite shower, kitchenette and an open deck with barbecue facilities.
Two guests are accommodated on two single beds in each of the Forest Tents. A bathroom with a shower and toilet is available at each tent. There is a small kitchenette and barbecue facilities are provided. One of the Forest Tents had been adapted to accommodate those with limited mobility.
Take note that there are no facilities at Limpopo Forest Tented Camp, but the restaurant at Leokwe Rest Camp offers a wide choice of meals and it’s best to make a booking in advance. The day visitor’s area has picnic and barbecue facilities and the Mapungubwe Interpretation Centre provides full details on the historical value of this site.
The lush riverine forest in which the Limpopo Forest Tented Camp is located, provides spectacular bird watching and game viewing opportunities. Even though the Interpretation Centre is not located at the Forest Camp, this World Heritage Site is interesting and informative and was also the winner of the World Architectural Awards in 2009. Knowledgeable guides offer tours to visitors, providing them with insight into the historical richness of the area.
