Tshugulu Lodge is located in the western region of Mapungubwe National Park, about 23 km from the main entrance to the park. Towering Baobab and Mashatu trees, riverine forest and savanna grasslands surround the luxurious lodge, offering an exceptional experience of being close to nature in the magical bushveld.
Being close to the border between South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe, this facility is the ideal place for an intimate group of friends and family who are not only interested in the cultural and historical richness to be explored, but also want to relax and enjoy being immersed in nature.
The history of the Mapungubwe Kingdom is displayed in the beautiful Interpretation Centre and the park and specifically the Mapungubwe Hill has been declared a World Heritage Site in 2003.

Only twelve guests can be accommodated at Tshugulu Lodge, offering luxurious facilities in the guest house and the guest cottage. A fully equipped kitchen, a swimming pool and a private eco route is available for exclusive use by guests staying at Tshugulu Lodge.
Accommodating a maximum of eight guests, the Guest House at Tshugulu Lodge has 4 bedrooms, each furnished with 2 single beds or a double bed. The rooms are air-conditioned and en-suite bathrooms are available.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering purposes and barbecue facilities are provided. The swimming pool is shared by guests staying in the Guest House and in the Guest Cottage.
The Guest Cottage accommodates four persons in two air-conditioned bedrooms. One bedroom is furnished with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet.
There is a small kitchen, equipped with a fridge, microwave, stove and oven. DSTV with limited channels is available in the lounge. A patio with barbecue facilities is provided.
Take note that there are no public facilities at Tshugulu Lodge, but the restaurant at Leokwe Rest Camp offers a wide choice of meals and it’s best to make a booking in advance.
The day visitor’s area has picnic and barbecue facilities and the Mapungubwe Interpretation Centre provides full details on the historical value of this site.
The lush riverine forest in which the Tshugulu Lodge is located, provides spectacular bird watching and game viewing opportunities. Even though the Interpretation Centre is not located at the Forest Camp, this World Heritage Site is interesting and informative and was also the winner of the World Architectural Awards in 2009. Knowledgeable guides offer tours to visitors, providing them with insight into the historical richness of the area.
