Surrounded by beautiful yellowwood and cedar trees, with the glorious Waterberg Mountain in the background, guests staying at Tlopi Tented Camp in Marakele National Park, can enjoy a restful and relaxing time, combined with the experience of the wild African Landscape.
Marakele is divided into a western and eastern section, which is connected to each other by a subway tunnel with an electric gate. Because the two areas differ from each other regarding landscape and vegetation, different animals are to be seen in the two sections. Guests visiting Marakele should ensure that both sides of the park are included in their game drives, as both are well worth visiting.
Rates are per night and exclude 1% community fund which will be added when booking.

Be on the lookout for monkeys in the camp. Ensure food is safely stored and not left out in the open as these rascals are fast and will steal food from your table. Also, take care when walking in the camp as there is no fencing and wildlife can move through the camp at any time. Stay within the designated area and keep your distance from the wild animals as they can be dangerous when they feel threatened.
Each tent can accommodate 2 persons on 2 single beds and stretchers can be added to accommodate small children with their parents. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, toilet and hand basin. A fridge and 2-plate stove is provided in the fully equipped kitchen. Barbecue facilities and outdoor furniture is available on the private veranda of each tented unit.
Motswere – the Setswana name for a leadwood tree – is a farmhouse that has been converted into a Guest Cottage, providing accommodation to a group of friends or a family of eight. with high ground clearance. The area around the Guest Cottage is fenced
in, so the facilities are family friendly and safe for children.
The rustic camp is located on the banks of the Apiesrivierpoort Dam and offers excellent game watching opportunities. To enhance the feeling of being close to nature and wildlife, the camp is not fenced in, so guests must always be on the lookout for wild animals, including monkeys looking for food.
To minimise the impact on the ecosystem in Marakele National Park, as little as possible facilities have been developed inside the park. Thabazimbi town is located 12km from Marakele and a wide variety of amenities and facilities are available in town. Please take note that no fishing or swimming in the dams are permitted.
Attracting visitors who are interested in game viewing and birdwatching, the Marakele National Park is located in a unique area of South Africa, with a wide range of wildlife and birds, especially raptors, to be seen.
