With about 12 km to travel from the main entrance to the Mountain Zebra National Park, the Mountain Zebra Rest Camp offers accommodation to those who enjoy the peace and quiet of being far away from the crowds. The absolute tranquillity of the crisp and clear Karoo air not only refreshes the mind and body, but also allows for spectacular stargazing opportunities.

Accommodation Options

A variety of cottages offer accommodation in the Mountain Zebra Rest Camp. The larger cottages accommodate families, and the smaller cottages can accommodate 2 persons each. Campsites for 2 to 6 persons are available.

Campsites

The camping ground is close to Reception and there is a mixture of lawn and soil-surfaced sites. Sites are closed on a rotary basis to allow grass to grow. Some of the campsites are in the shade and there is an electrical connection point and barbecue facilities at each site.

Communal ablution facilities with showers and baths are available. The communal kitchen has a fridge, freezer, microwave and stove plates. The communal laundry facilities have a washing machine and tumble drier and tickets to use these can be bought from reception.

Family Cottages

The 2-bedroom air-conditioned Family Cottages can accommodate up to 4 persons. There are 2 bedrooms of which one is furnished with a queen-size bed and the other with 2 single beds. The bathroom is private and has a toilet and a shower and/or a bath. The open plan kitchen is equipped with a fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, kettle and toaster.

The lounge has a TV with limited DSTV channels and outdoor furniture as well as barbecue facilities are available on the veranda. Some of the Family Cottages have been adjusted to be accessible for those with limited mobility.

A maximum of 3 persons can be accommodated in the 1-bedroom, air-conditioned Cottages. There are 2 single beds in the bedroom and a sleeper couch in the living room area, accommodating 1 adult or 2 small children. The bathroom is private and has a toilet and a shower.

The lounge has a TV with limited DSTV channels and outdoor furniture as well as barbecue facilities are available on the veranda. A maximum of 4 persons can be accommodated in the 2-bedroom, air-conditioned Rock Chalets. Each of the bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower, toilet and an outdoor shower. There are 2 single beds in one bedroom and a double bed in the other room.

The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, kettle and toaster. The lounge has a fireplace and a TV with limited DSTV channels. Outdoor furniture as well as barbecue facilities are available on the veranda. Some of the Cottages have been adjusted to be accessible for those with limited mobility.

The Mountain Zebra National Park is located 24 km from the nearest town, Cradock. Banks, medical services, vehicle services, etc are available in town.
