Offering the ideal opportunity to be completely cut off from the outside world and relaxing without any intrusions, the Skilpad Rest Camp in the Namaqua National Park has four beautiful self-catering chalets, each with a closed-in veranda with fold-out windows, offering uninterrupted views on the surrounding landscape.
Because the road network is limited to 4x4-enabled vehicles or those
with high ground clearance, the exclusivity of this camp makes it
a sought-after place to stay.
Rates are per night and exclude 1% community fund which will be added when booking.

A maximum of 4 persons is accommodated in each of the four chalets. Two chalets are located fairly close to each other, making it perfect for families or couples travelling together.
Only four 1-bedroom chalets are available at Skilpad Rest Camp. Two persons are accommodated in the bedroom and there is a sleeper couch in the living room, accommodating one adult or 2 small children. There is a fireplace in the living room which is open towards the kitchen.
A dining area is available on the enclosed veranda, which opens up to a small outdoor barbecue area and offers beautiful views on the surroundings. The kitchen is well-equipped with a fridge, freezer, 4-plate stove, oven and microwave. One of the chalets has been adapted to accommodate those with mobility challenges.
There are very little amenities and facilities available inside the Namaqua National Park, although the nearby towns of Kamieskroon and Garies do have basic facilities and shops.
Fuel filling stations, banks and ATMs, as well as restaurants and shops for supplies are scarce and should be utilised when available. Bring your own firewood as well as drinking water along.
Attracting adventurous travellers who prefer the peace and quiet of travelling off the beaten track, during the off-season months, where silence, fresh air and abundant photographic opportunities are your only companions.
During the flower-season, the Park is abuzz with excitement and large numbers of guests travelling to enjoy the amazing flower show. There are not many activities on offer, but relaxation and enjoyment of the natural surroundings are top priority for any visitor to the Namaqua National Park.
